DACS is a Christian school graciously supported by members from the Orangeville, Grand Valley and Arthur Canadian Reformed Churches.
Our Mission is to provide parents with a Reformed Christian learning environment for the education of their children, assisting them in fulfilling their covenantal promises made at the baptism of their children. At DACS, we strive to develop the talents of the students so that they acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for a life of responsible Christian stewardship. We also endeavour to provide an atmosphere that promotes a genuine love and caring for neighbour near and far.
To provide educational excellence to help students be discerning Reformed Christians, functioning as salt and light in faith, serving their community, while glorifying God in their lives.
Teach me your way
The Canadian Reformed School Society of Dufferin was first formed on April 10, 1957. It began as just a Saturday school where students were taught Bible, Church History and the Dutch language in the garage of Rev. Scholten, the minister of the Orangeville Canadian Reformed Church.
In 1965 the School Society began to seriously consider starting its own Christian day school. After much prayer, planning and consideration the School Board received approval from the membership in December 1967 to purchase a 2-room school building that had previously been Laurel Central School.
On September 3, 1968 Dufferin Area Christian School first open its doors to offer Christian education to approximately 80 students. The Lord has blessed the membership with growth throughout the years, and subsequent additions to the building were constructed, including the addition of a gym in 2009.
